SCGG Narrative 40k Event Important Announcement!

Hello Gladiators!

We are getting closer to the Salt City Gladiator Games Narrative Finale, and I have some important announcements for you!

In order to deliver a better narrative experience with an appeal to a variety of players, we decided that we will offer three separate features in the Narrative Finale. Because of this, it will require some advance preparation on the part of the players so that we can help deliver the best possible narrative gaming experience. In a narrative game, win or lose, you still contribute to the story, and we plan to reward all contributors as much as we are able to.

40K Narrative Event Sunday July 17th.

If you are new to the area or new to the campaign, be sure to check out the story so far at www.worldwar40k.com to get caught up on all of the action!

Are You Excited Yet?!

This promises to be the best Narrative Event that SCGG has put on yet! We are excited to have been able to work with the folks at www.dicehead.com during the course of the World War 40k event. If you want to play in the narrative event, it is ABSOLUTELY VITAL that you read the following information:

Registration

Players pay for their tickets using the link here and then need to immediately send an email to brothercaptainmorgan@gmail.com to sign up for ONE of the three Battlezones. Players can ONLY participate in ONE of the three battlezones, so have one in mind when you register. If you have already registered, then go ahead and send an email declaring which battlezone you wish to participate in. Players that register at the event will be assigned. Help us out by pre-registering so we can plan according to your wishes! Depending on registration turnout, we may have to put a cap on certain warzones. Be prepared and reserve your spot so you can play how you want to play!

Simultaneous Play

Because things in one battlzone will influence other battlezones, rounds are going to be timed by each phase. This is to help keep the game moving so we can progress through the narrative elements of the finale. Exact times for each phase will be at the TO's discretion based on factions/army turnout, but please make a reasonable effort to build an army list that plays quickly enough to finish. Some armies naturally have a lot more models, but with proper preparation there shouldn't be any issue finishing your turns within the limit.

Special Rule: Ordo Chronus Sanction

If you finish a phase early, DO NOT MOVE ON TO THE NEXT PHASE BEFORE THE TIMER! We may only move on from one phase to the other early if ALL PLAYERS have finished the phase. Players that violate this rule will be assigned a penalty at the discretion of the Ordo Chronus (Event Staff)! We've all seen enough sci-fi to know that messing with the timestream has dire consequences!

Battlezones

The war over Stulte Mors has taken place across several war-torn and ravaged fields. As the campaign comes to a close and the conflict comes to a head, the forces of order and disorder are throwing everything they have left into a massive, final gambit that could swing the war to their favor. Forces are being prepared and battle-lines are being drawn. The question is: where will your army make its stand?

Battlezone 1: Luna non Mortua

Luna non Mortua is nigh-uninhabitable, barren rock which has only been made more inhospitable due to the recent conflict in the sector. Firmly in the grasp of the forces of Disorder, the forces of Order must now deploy their heaviest weapons of war in an attempt to flush out and destroy the evil forces lurking there. This effort will be critical in crippling the ability of the forces of Disorder to deploy reinforcements to the other battlezones...

Battlezone Format

Army Composition: Super-heavy Vehicles (SHV) and Gargantuan Monstrous Creatures (GMC) ONLY.

Points limit: N/A. Players will be restricted to having up to 30 Hull Points(SHV) or 30 Wounds(GMC) in their force for this event.

Force of Order Primary Objective: Destroy critical fortifications and infrastructure required for the forces of Disorder to send troops and reinforcements to other battlezones. Success will apply reserve and reinforcement penalties to players on Battlezones 2 and 3. 3 Victory Points will be awarded per structure destroyed.

Force of Order Secondary Objective: Destroy enemy SHV and GMC. 1 Victory Point will be awarded for every 3 HP/W removed from enemy super-heavy vehicles.

Force of Disorder Primary Objective: Destroy as many attackers as possible. 2 Victory Points will be awarded for every 3 HP/W removed from Order SHV/GMC.

Force of Disorder Secondary Objective: Defend key structures. Every structure left standing at the end of the game awards 3 Victory Points to the Disorder faction.

Scenario Special Rules:
  • All allied forces of Order and Disorder will be respectively treated as Allies of Convenience, regardless of codex faction.
  • If a unit is removed from play, it immediately enters ongoing reserves on a roll of a 3+, rolled immediately after the unit is removed from play. If the roll is failed, the model comes in automatically after a full game turn.
  • If Order successfully manages to control or destroy 3/4 of the buildings on Luna non Mortua by the start of game turn 4, then the forces of Order in Battlezone 3 will suffer a penalty too spoilerific to disclose here!
*A Note on Terrain*

Expect sparse, rocky terrain. This will help you move your Titans around, and also help keep the theme.

*A Note on Conversions*

If you are bringing a conversion/counts-as of a SHV/GMC for this event, please get approval from the SCGG Event Team beforehand by  posting a picture to the SCGG 40k Narrative Facebook Event. Sloppy, unpainted, or re-cast models will not be permitted at the event, and are judged as such at the TO's discretion. Well-done and clever conversions will be celebrated!

Battlezone 2: Heavenfall Station

Heavenfall Station is the strongest and most powerful support platform available to the forces of order. Many direct assaults against the powerful defenses have been tried and each has failed. Now, with the final conflict approaching, the Disorder commanders have elected for a different approach. Sending elite Kill-Teams via whatever clandestine methods are available, they are seeking to sabotage the forces of Order's ability to send support to the myriad warzones hotly contested across the sector...

Battlezone Format

Army Composition: Players will construct their armies using the Kill Team rules for Warhammer 40k, which are available for purchase/download at www.blacklibrary.com or via iBooks. In addition to those rules, the following changes/restrictions apply:

  • No models with the bike, jetbike, vehicle, monstrous creature, cavalry or jump pack type are allowed, due to the cramped corridors and narrow passageways these models would not be able to move effectively. If you have to ask "Would this fit?" then it probably won't. If you have a question, then please contact the event staff in advance to see if it will be ok.
  • Players may bring 1 HQ choice or independent character along with their kill team. These characters can take up to 2 relics from their respective codex. They will operate just like every other character in the Kill Team game format and will not get to "Look out, sir!" etc..This may include the Custom Warlord character built as part of participation in the Strife at Stulte Events hosted by SCGG since the start of the year. The same restrictions on unit types apply to these characters. No "unique" characters may be taken (i.e. Azrael, Mephiston, named characters).
  • Due to the cramped corridors, weapons with the blast/template special rules will have the 'Shred' special rule (much like in Zone Mortalis).
Force of Order Primary Objective: The forces of Order must defend the vital targeting computers, shield generator power conduits, consoles, and other important components from disorder. Every active console not in possession by a unit from the forces of Disorder at the end of the game counts as 3 victory points for the force of Order.

Force of Order Secondary Objective: Every force org slot from an enemy player that is completely destroyed awards 1 victory point.

Force of Disorder Primary Objective: The forces of Disorder must take over or destroy the vital targeting computers, shield generator power conduits, consoles, and other important components in Heavenfall station. Every console in possession of the forces of Disorder at the end of the game counts as 3 victory point. Destroyed consoles count as 1 victory point.

Force of Disorder Secondary Objective: For every HQ/Independent character killed by Disorder, the faction gains 2 victory points. For every force org slot killed that belongs to an enemy player, Disorder gains 1 victory point.

Scenario Special Rules:
  • For every 2 consoles in a faction's (Order/Disorder)  possession, the owning faction's players may opt to shoot a single S8 AP3 Massive Blast (7"), Barrage at a Battlezone of their choice. These shots always scatter the full distance regardless of bonuses (i.e. servo skulls etc.) and scatter in the direction the arrow on the "hit" icon of the scatter die is indicating. Orbital bombardment is not an exact science when under fire. If 4 or more are owned, then the owning faction may change the profile to fire a single S: D Large Blast (5")
  • All allied forces of Order and Disorder will be respectively treated as Allies of Convenience, regardless of codex faction.
  • If Disorder successfully manages to control or destroy 3/4 of the consoles in Heavenfall Station by the start of game turn 4, then the forces of Order in Battlezone 3 will suffer a penalty too spoilerific to disclose here!
  • No units are considered "objective secured" for this game, but the distance to hold an objective or contest one (i.e. the consoles) has been reduced to 2" from 3" and all units are considered scoring/denial units for ease of play. Consoles cannot be contested from behind walls or closed doors.
*A Note on Terrain*

This battle will be played out on a table consisting of tiles from the Space Hulk and Betrayal at Calth sets. Line of sight will be determined in a common sense fashion, using the 2-Dimensional walls as guides. In future years we'd like to do Zone Mortalis, however it is currently beyond the means of the organizers to provide adequate terrain for that game type. Expect cramped spaces and use  your imaginations, please :)

*A Note on Turns*

Turns will be timed so that things are consistent across all three tables, as each table can have an impact on the others. Because of the small model count for Battlezone 2, players will each do a full Kill Team  GAME TURN per PLAYER TURN for the other tables. For the purposes of holding objectives, it will be determined at the end of each PLAYER TURN.

Battlezone 3: The Battle for Siper Hive

Open war is blazing across the sector as the forces of Disorder launch a final, devastating assault upon Siper Hive, the seat of power in Stulte. The fate of the entire sector hinges on the outcome of this final, epic showdown.

Battlezone Format

Army Composition:

Players must prepare a 1500 point force consisting entirely of the same faction (so no allies), but may consist of an unlimited number of formations/detachments as long as they do not repeat the same one more than once. Forge World army lists and units are allowed as permitted in the most recently published Forge World rule set for that faction/model.

Players that participated in the SCGG Narrative Events hosted this year may bring their custom warlord character for NO POINTS COST. This represents you on the table. Treat this character as a separate, 1-model detachment. All upgrades and relics (you know what a relic is, Mr. "It's not a relic, it's a Signature System!") must be modeled as appropriate within reason/suspension of disbelief. Only 2 relics may be taken by this model as permitted by your codex, as this is not an exercise in exploiting free points or min-maxing. TO's may adjust what is allowed at their discretion. Remember we are here to have fun.

Players that did not participate in the SCGG Narrative Events may bring 1 non-unique character HQ choice for NO POINTS COST.

Players who wish to include a unique, named character from their codex MUST get the OK from the Event Staff prior to the event so as to avoid multiple unique characters. PRE-REGISTER for first dibs!

As this is a cramped, urban setting, there is not enough room for SHV or GMC's, and they will not be allowed in lists created for this Battlezone.

Forces of Order Primary Objective: Protect the city. As the forces of Disorder advance, they will be defiling and setting fire to the buildings and structures. Every structure that has not been defiled at the end of the game awards one victory point. Structures will be clearly defined at the event.

Forces of Order Secondary Objective: Protect the Governor. The governor has been sent away to a private war bunker. The Order commander will mark one of four pre-selected buildings as the governor's bunker. If the building with the governor gets defiled, the governor is slain and disorder immediately gets 5 victory points. If the governor survives at the end of the game, then Order gets 5 victory points.

Forces of Disorder Primary Objective: Defile the city. As your forces advance, they will be defiling and setting fire to the buildings and structures. Every structure that has been defiled at the end of the game awards one victory point. Structures will be clearly defined at the event.

Forces of Disorder Secondary Objective: Kill the Governor.

Scenario Special Rules:
  • Aggressive assault: For every 5 defiled structures, the forces of disorder may deploy their reserves an additional 6" from the board edge.
  • Command Center: While the governor is alive, forces of Order may re-roll one failed reserve roll per turn. If the Governor is slain, Disorder may require a successful reserves roll to be re-rolled per turn. Modifiers apply as normal.
  • Defensive Deployment: Order may deploy anywhere on the Battlezone up to 12" away from Disorder's deployment edge. Disorder comes on the first turn as if they were arriving from reserve and may hold units in reserve like normal. Units that come on the first turn may assault the turn they do so, but subsequent rounds follow the rules for assaulting from reserves like normal. Disorder has the first turn. Order may not seize.
  • Battle Commanders: The forces of Order and Disorder will both nominate a Warmaster (Disorder) or Praetorian (Order). Choose wisely, as these commanders will be in charge of strategic choices throughout the game that will affect all forces on the table!
